Safety Test for Truck Drivers

Safety Test for Truck Drivers
To further improve safety at our terminals, we informed you in January 2026 about a mandatory safety and access test for all drivers visiting the ECT Delta and ECT Euromax terminals. The test is conducted at Secure Logistics on Maasvlakte Plaza.

As of September 2026, access to the terminals will be denied to drivers who have not completed the mandatory safety and access test. We kindly request all drivers to complete this test in a timely manner, in order to maintain access to our terminals.

Why this test?

Due to the increasing complexity of processes and traffic flows at our terminals, up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations is essential. This test ensures that drivers can work safely and in accordance with applicable procedures.

Pilot successful

In collaboration with the Dutch Association for Transport and Logistics (TLN), a pilot was conducted. This pilot was successfully completed, after which it was decided to fully roll out the test.

  • How does it work?
  • Drivers do not need to wait for an invitation and can schedule an appointment themselves with Secure Logistics (XS - Kiosk).
  • Drivers must agree to the ECT terms and conditions via XS-ID Online before taking the test.
  • Each driver has a maximum of three attempts to pass the test.
  • If the driver fails three times, a three-month block will be applied (a block to retake the test).
  • As preparation for the test, an instructional video is available on ECT.nl. The video and other instructions can be found at: https://www.ect.nl/en/services/road-services

Opening Hours

The opening hours of the location at Maasvlakte Plaza are Monday through Friday from 08:15 to 16:45. For night drivers, Secure Logistics organizes a number of extended evening openings:

  • May 8 until 21.00 (last time slot at 20.45)
  • May 12 until 21.00 (last time slot at 20.45)

These evenings are a test to assess whether there is a demand for extended opening hours. More evenings will be arranged if found useful and needed.Top of FormBottom of Form

Costs

  • Costs are associated with taking the test, but ECT will cover these costs.
  • Contrary to what was previously communicated, in consultation with TLN it was decided that costs for a 2nd or 3rd attempt to pass the test will also be covered by ECT.
  • The certificate is valid for two years; after these two years testing will take place again.

We ask for your cooperation to ensure this process runs smoothly. By investing together in knowledge, awareness, and safety, we create an environment where everyone can work safely and risks are minimized.
